It has been recognised for many years the power the outdoors has to make us feel happier and healthier, to help us manage our wellbeing, develop our confidence and sense of purpose. A connection to nature, and time spent outside is therapeutic. This is a right that belongs to us all, not a privilege for the few.
360 Outdoors is committed to encouraging equality, diversity and inclusion among our staff and customers. We aim for 360 Outdoors to be a welcoming environment where all individuals can strive to gain their potential.
We define
Equality – We believe in equality for all people. It is not about treating everyone the same, it is about ensuring that access to opportunities are available to all by taking account of people’s differing needs and capabilities.
Diversity – We support through our work and courses that all customers are included and respected, whatever their gender, ethnicity, race, religious and political beliefs, education, socioeconomic background, disability, sexual orientation and geographic location.
Inclusion – We are committed to ensuring everyone feels welcome, no one feels uncomfortable and everyone is able to thrive and contribute equally regardless of who they are, where they’re from, or what they’re going through.
Women in the outdoors
The UK society consists of approximately 51% females. However, I know from experience, which the research backs up, that there are less women and girls participating in the outdoors then males and even fewer women are less likely to pursue a career in the outdoor industry.
Recent research shows that 13–15-year-old girls are the least active population in the UK.
For 360 outdoors there is no gender gap, as a result we do not employ woman only for women customers, as all our staff treat all customers equal and more importantly have the view that male and females are all equal.
Additional Staff
Any additional staff employed will be done so on merit and we recognise the benefits of having a diverse community of staff, who value one another and realising the contribution they can make to achieving 360 Outdoors aims.
